
The NJDEP recently sent out an advisory notice on the availability of the Governors Environmental Excellence Awards. This award is an opportunity for an individual, organization, institution, or business to be recognized for outstanding environmental performance, programs or projects within the state of New Jersey.
To be eligible, you need to meet the following criteria:
Be located in New Jersey; be active within the year prior to their application submission date (information about additional related experience is welcome); and,
Agree to have their project shared with others through a written description to appear in the awards program, press materials and on the excellence awards website.
Nominations can be submitted for various categories including: Climate Change and Clean Air, Water Resources, Healthy Ecosystems and Habitats, Landowner of the Year, Healthy & Sustainable Communities/Healthy and Sustainable Businesses, and Environmental Education / Education-Led and Student-Led Projects. There are five criteria upon which applications are judged: documented environmental benefit, meeting needs, coverage and replicability, leadership/innovation, and education & outreach. The deadline for applications to be considered for this award is Friday October 23, 2020 at 5:00 PM.
